If you’ve been around for a while, you may have noticed that the site has changed and that Dungeons & Disabilities now redirects to Nerd Out of Spoons. I wanted to take a few minutes to explain why this move is happening and why I haven’t been around as much recently on this blog.
If you’ve been in the table top role playing game (TTRPG) community, you’ve likely heard all the news about the OGL. In short, Wizards of the Coast is making moves to control more of the Dungeons and Dragons brand. As all of this has played out, I’ve made the choice to protect myself and my energy and distance myself from anything that company may decide about the brand. With the choice to distance myself from Dungeons and Dragons, Dungeons and Disabilities felt too close to comfortably keep. I still want this blog to be a space to talk about nerdy things and disability topics and even how to use nerdy things to live better with your disability.
As a result, this blog will move forward as Nerd Out Of Spoons and the posts will drop their attempts to tie into a role playing game. On the opposing side, I am planning to make resources to help disabled communities have more positive experiences. This shift in focus is taking time and there will come some changes to the site. I hope you can be patient as I make these changes and work to create a better resource. I’m tired but seeing how important everything happening is. I will keep fighting but I can’t guarantee consistency for a bit. I’ll keep you updated as I can.
